MARC HENRI BRUNET
He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Daisy (nee Desloges); his sons: David (Lisa Vasarevic Brunet) and their children, Zora and Eric; Daniel (Rochelle Squires) and their children, Nicole, Chantal and Melanie Brunet, Tyler Kehler (Kara) and their son Jaxon, Josh Kehler (Madi) and their son Theodore.
He also leaves behind his brothers, Raymond (Paulette), Roger (Dawn), and many nieces and nephews who were always an important part of his life. He was predeceased by his parents, Henri and Jeanne d'Arc Brunet and his sister Jocelyne Handford. Marc had a special bond with his siblings and throughout their lives they loved and supported one another and thoroughly enjoyed any time they were able to get together.
Marc met the love of his life, Daisy, while they were in high school. They were married for 52 years and throughout their life together they were each other's best friend, strongest supporter and together they provided a loving, stable home for their sons. Marc's sons were a constant source of pride and joy. He instilled in them a strong work ethic, respect for others and a love of family. They will surely miss his support and his phone calls.
In 1970 the family purchased property at Gull Lake and started to build several cottages. For almost 20 years the Brunet and Desloges families spent time together at the lake sharing many memorable moments together. When Marc and Daisy retired it was time for the grandchildren to spend more time with Papa and Gram during the summer months. They enjoyed tubing behind Papa's boat, learning to drive in the gravel pits, going for ice cream runs and spending quality time crafting and painting with Gram. Family was always Marc's top priority and he was so proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Once Marc retired from Manitoba Hydro after 32 years, they were able to travel to warmer destinations during the winter months, but his favourite place to be was the cottage at Gull Lake where they spent 49 wonderful years together.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the exceptional caregivers at St. Boniface Palliative Care unit. We cannot thank you enough for your support during Marc's stay. Special thanks to Nurse Allison for helping us navigate through this very difficult journey. We would also like to express our appreciation to everyone involved in Marc's care over the past two years, Dr. L. Lockman, Dr. A. Chowdhury, Dr. A. Ogaranko, his skilled surgeon Dr. Larry Tan and especially Dr. James Paul for always making us feel supported, for his expertise and compassionate care.
In keeping with Marc's wishes cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Health Sciences Centre Foundation for Thoracic Cancer research.
You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure. You did so many things for us and when we needed someone we could always count on you.

We are saddened by this loss & are thinking of Marc’s family & friends during this difficult time. Our sympathies & love go out to all of them, especially Daisy, Daniel & David (& their wives) & all of Marc’s grandchildren. We spent many fun times at Gull Lake next door to Marc & Daisy. Marc was “Uncle Marc” to each of our 3 kids & always kept them busy with odd jobs, beach fun & boating or tube riding adventures on the water! Marc was always around to lend a hand with a lake project or start up a handful of new projects-just so no one got bored! Marc will be remembered fondly & lovingly by many, & missed by everyone who knew him. RIP Uncle Marc & thanks for the memories. 🙏🏼❤️Jenn, Chad, Kassia, Matthew & Juleah Radomsky ❌⭕️❤️ - Posted by: Radomsky Family (Family friend) on: Feb 09, 2020

My condolences to the Brunet family. I knew Marc since the early 1970's as we were both involved in issues of the Gull Lake Ratepayers Association and Gull Lake Basin Management Board. Marc was a tireless volunteer, who made Gull Lake a better place for all of us. While we did not always agree on issues, I always enjoyed our discussions and debates of what needed to be done next and how to best achieve the desired results. Rest in peace, Marc. - Posted by: Randy Mattern (Friend) on: Feb 06, 2020

We have lost from our secular world a good man. He exuded love and kindness in his own way and many of his actions were in service to others. The products of his generosity included myself when he helped me get elected as his MLA in 1995. After this, he and Daisy were huge, loving supports to his son Daniel and Daniel’s amazing wife Rochelle. Rochelle ultimately became a successor of mine as MLA for Riel and like me also became a cabinet minister serving above self and continues to do so with Daniel’s and their extended family’s loving support. The legacy of Marc’s service continues through those whose potential Marc and Daisy nurtured. Daisy and the extended family continue his service. A life well-lived that keeps on giving through those who have survived him. With much love to the family from Brenda and I. David G. Newman, Q.C. - Posted by: David G. Marc was a longtime family friend having known Marc most of his life, having discussed all the problems of the over morning coffee with Joan and Hank. Hearing of Marc’s passing saddened our hearts very much and our condolences to the family especially Daisy. Marc was always busy and a real go-getter working all the angles and a very hard worker, starting at Chaput’s, Cantor’s, maybe even Safeway, and at Hydro, and I probably forget some. Last time I saw Marc was at Henry’s funeral. Life is busy for all of us and we can never catch up. We will all miss you my friend and may your journey be a good one. You will always be in our hearts and never forgotten. God bless you my good friend. - Posted by: Paul and Olive Ayotte (Longtime family friend) on: Feb 01, 2020
