CORALIE LYN HIGNELL
(nee BAYES)
She is also survived by her children, Jason (Erin), Steve and Kelsi (Jeff); grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia and Rayna; siblings, Scott, Drew, Laurie and Debbie, and her father Fred. She was predeceased by her mother Joyce, and Harris and Sonoko.
Cory grew up on Kingston Row and spent her summers with family at Hillside Beach. Fond childhood memories were spent camping with siblings, dancing in Go-Go boots with Brenda, and on the Tobermory with cousin Kathy.
Cory started her career working in care at St. Amant, leading her to become an educational assistant working with children she adored. She touched many hearts with her compassion and her wry sense of humour was shared by friend Eileen. Cory received countless letters of gratitude for her dedication and natural ability to care for those around her. Great friendships were also made in her time at First General Services.
She loved cooking for her friends and family, time at the cottage and socializing with her curling teams. Wonderful memories were made on her trips to Nelson, BC.
Cory's greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother. She always took care of those around her and left a greater legacy than she will ever know. "I love you forever, even at hockey games".
We thank the doctors, nurses and staff at all CancerCare facilities and Riverview 3E. A special thanks to Drew and Karen, Brenda, Amma and nurse Chris.
As per her wishes a private Celebration of Life will be held in summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or charity of your choice.
Condolences may be left at alternacremation.ca

To all of Cory's family and friends, I offer my deepest sympathies for your great loss. I worked for a short time with Cory at College St. Norbert Collegiate and I so enjoyed my time with Cory. She had such a great sense of humour and was so caring, genuine and patient with the students she worked with. She was such a strong and vibrant woman. She left a great impression upon me. I remember her laughter and her crinkled eyes when she laughed. My husband Bruce also worked with her at the Collegiate and also has fond memories of Cory. We are so sad for your loss. - Posted by: Odette Sabourin North (Friend) on: Mar 17, 2020

I am sorry to hear the incredibly sad news of Cory's passing. I got to know Cory when our daughters were school friends. Such good memories of her wickedly wonderful sense of humour, long chats, weekends at the cottage and tromping through old buildings at 'Open Doors Winnipeg'. Cory holds a special place in my heart. Rob, Kelsi and family .. my thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Nancy Cumbers (Friend) on: Mar 14, 2020
