Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • My condolences to thr family of Dr. Murphy. Dr. Murphy was our family doctor for decades and mine for 20 years before I moved to Ontario. I never knew of all of his many accomplishments until now, but he was a very compassionate doctor and family man. He cared so much for his patients, he even made the occasional house call, back in the day. After being in hospital for over a month following a car accident, he came to our home to check on me. He was very reassuring to me. I'm sure he will be missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: Karyn Anderson (Former patient) on: Apr 28, 2020

  • He was a wonderful, kind man! He was our family Doctor for over 40 years, my whole family thought the world of him, from grandparents, parents, sister and the next generations. Thank you for your caring and kindness, you will be missed! Bless you Doc.. - Posted by: Lori Diack (Patient ) on: Apr 24, 2020

  • A wonderful teacher who stepped back and let us residents learn from experience... while ensuring patient safety and comfort. Dr. Murphy taught me that a family doctor is an important part of the community by example. I learned from him how to chose and chair a committee... his influence On my career was profound. I am forever grateful. - Posted by: Patricia Mirwaldt (Former student and colleague ) on: Apr 22, 2020

  • I met Dr. Claude Murphy some years ago when making a film about the Canadian Army Service Battalions. Dr. Murphy was a veteran of the Second World War and had a connection with the unit I was documenting. He very kindly welcomed me into his home where he recorded an important voice-over for my film. He was very interested in what I was doing, modest about his own considerable accomplishments and willing to do everything he could to help. He was a deeply spiritual gentleman who lived a life of service to others. "At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them (him)." - Posted by: Jon Ted Wynne (professional colleague) on: Apr 20, 2020

  • Dr. Murphy delivered me and was my GP throughout the years. He was a wonderful doctor and cared for me throughout 2 pregnancies. I can’t express how much I appreciate his care throughout my life. Rest In Peace Dr. Murphy ❤️ - Posted by: Gigi (Patient) on: Apr 19, 2020

  • I didn't know him well but loved him nonetheless. Last time I saw him we played poker with Russ Smith and my Dad Jack, my brother Mike at his camp on Coney. Russ beat us all of course. Requiescat in pace. - Posted by: PHIL CORTENS (Grand Nephew (?)) on: Apr 18, 2020
