CAROL GUTTORMSON
(nee HUNNIE)
August 1, 1933 - May 9, 2020
She was predeceased by her husband Fred in February, 2003. Carol leaves behind her five children, Roy (Sharlene), Doug (Connie), Arlene (Larry), Carl (Sherry) and Cheryl (Doug). Her 10 grandchildren, Keith, Nikki and Alex, Lindsay, Mandy and Eric, Shannon and Tyler, Michael and Shantel, have many wonderful memories of visiting Amma and Afi at the farm. Their children, Carol's great-grandchildren, Emaly, Rhianna, Royce, Ava, Arielle, Reid, Owen, Linden, Xachery, Xayden, Perrin and Lily will now come to know Lang Amma through family stories and photos.
Carol was born on August 1, 1933, in Poplar Park, Manitoba, the only child of Anna Hunnie. Mom spent much of her childhood in the care of Baba Hunnie where she learned to master the art of pyrogy making. Mom married Fred on March 20, 1952, and their eldest son Roy was born a year later. They ran the A & G General Store in Libau for a few years then moved to Atikokan, Ontario where the rest of the clan was born. In 1961 they moved back to Libau and purchased the family farm where they hosted many gatherings and happy meals with friends and family. Mom worked for many years as a home care worker and forged many friendships through her hard work and dedication to helping the elderly and the ill. Mom had a wonderful voice and loved to sing. Her pyrogies were some of the best ever made and many a visitor was treated to a generous helping. Her declining health over the last 10 years or so saw her leave the family farm for an apartment in Selkirk and finally to the Betel Nursing Home.
A special thank you to Mom's friend and loving companion Monica Dzisiak, who spent so much time with Mom. Monica always brought a ray of sunshine and love to Mom's world. Also a huge thank you to all caregivers at Betel for the loving care they provided to Mom.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
Due to the situation with Covid 19, a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
Hvildu vel Mamma og Amma, elsku alltaf.

I liberated one of your fiction books from your apartment before you went into the home. I still haven't read it. Where the wild things grow I think is the name. Anyway. I used to love our chats on the phones and spending a lot time at the farm growing up. Before mother told you passed I knew in my heart pretty well a day before. Intuition is what they call it on paper. Gutt instinct. Everytime I sneeze I think of Carlo and you. Semper Fidelis, Michael Einar - Posted by: Michael Einar Carlsson (Grandson) on: Feb 17, 2021

Our condolences to all the family. Carol was a loving, generous and friendly person. We spent many hours making perogies and reminiscing about old times, going to Bingo (our favourite) and just talking on the phone. I have really missed her since she went to the Bethal Home. Loving thoughts and sympathy. RIP CAROL Love Bernice & Jim - Posted by: Bernice & Jim Habing (Cousin) on: May 18, 2020

So sorry to hear of Carol's passing. I remember her well from when I was at school right next door to the farm, where we saw her often in the yard. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed. Condolences to the family. - Posted by: Marion Marko (Friend) on: May 16, 2020
