Condolences & Memories (8 entries)

  • Our family was truly saddened &shocked yesterday to learn our dear Aunty Cookie had passed away in May. I will always remember my Aunt as a kind lady with a smile on her face & a giggle when she spoke. Rest In Peace Aunty Cookie xx - Posted by: Michelle Durighello (Niece ) on: Jun 15, 2020

  • I will truly miss my aunty Cookie after learning of her recent passing. In recent years we had many outings together to restaurants. (Her favourite restaurant- Foody Goody.) And many other errands, including visiting family members. I will always cherish many warm memories of aunty Cookie while visiting the family St. Laurent home during the summer months as I was growing up. - Posted by: Rick LAWRENCE (Nephew ) on: Jun 14, 2020

  • Today as I dialed the phone to talk with my sister-in-law and good friend, Cookie, I learned that her phone number was “not in service” any longer. It is with deep shock and unbearable sadness that I learned, Cookie passed away on May 17. Throughout our close friendship of almost 60 years, Cookie had always been a constant light in my life. I will forever miss our family ties with her and our frequent warm-hearted phone calls. May Cookie sleep peacefully in God’s Beautiful Garden of Rest. - Posted by: Helen Lawrence (Sister-in-law) on: Jun 14, 2020

  • So sad to find out today that Auntie Cookie passed away on May 17. I have fond memories of auntie during my childhood where we would gather together at family occasions such as in St. Laurent. I will miss her. God bless. - Posted by: Birdena Lawrence (Niece ) on: Jun 14, 2020

  • My favorite aunt, 'Cookie' (nee Gould and Laurence) was always there to help look after children with hard working mothers, myself included. Born in St. Laurent, MB., Cookie loved family on all sides and always tried to attend any family event, and visited those she loved as much as she could. With an infectious laugh, it was easy to like Cookie. Later in life, she met and married Gerry who himself was a character and could always make one chuckle. They enjoyed many drives taking in new sights, new restaurants and public events. They were very comfortable looking after one another and often visited us especially to see her grand-niece. Christmas remains among my favorite time when Cookie would serve her sides of pickled beets and meat pie. She never shy'd away from work in the kitchen and always helped where she could. Cookie and Gerry will both be missed. Thank you Aunty, for a lifetime of wonderful memories. It is a relief to know that you are no longer in pain and are happy again with those family that have passed on before us. God Bless. - Posted by: Darrell Lawrence (Nephew) on: May 27, 2020

  • I remember meeting Cookie through her niece Merna. She was trying to get us to put money in her swear jar every time that we used a naughty word. Sad to hear of the loss of this lovely, fun woman. Peace. - Posted by: Andrea (Friend of Cookie’s niece ) on: May 24, 2020

  • Sorry to hear about the loss of Cookie. Have not seen her for years but she was always in my thoughts. - Posted by: Ron Lawrence (cousin) on: May 23, 2020

  • I remember going and staying with Cookie when I was a kid. She let me spend a week with them to enjoy all the things a city kid would. I'll always remember her laugh and her smile. Xoxo - Posted by: Penny Byron (Cousin) on: May 23, 2020
