KIMBERLEY MARIE MCCORRISTER
April 24, 1968 - May 23, 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister, Kimberley Marie McCorrister, at the age of 52.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, son Toryan (Mary Ann), grandson Zander and his sister Neo and their mom Haley; parents, Marcella and Carl; sisters, Carol and Donna (Tim); brothers, Kevin (Melissa) and Paul; nephews, Jeremy, Tyrone, Jonah; nieces, Desiree, Meeya and Sophie; great-niece Ella; great-nephews, Ryder and Elias; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Kim was predeceased by big brother Roland.
She was also predeceased by her grandmother Ruth whom she loved very dearly; and her special aunt Mary Bird, whom she spoke to on the phone almost daily.
Kim grew up in Peguis First Nation. After she graduated from high school, she went on to attend two years of studies at the University of Manitoba. She always worked and she was the first homeowner in our family at the age of 27. Kim spent 10 years in the banking industry and over three years with Interlake Reserves Tribal Council. In her late thirties, Kim was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis which took its toll on her over the years.
She loved her grandchildren very much and she always had a special gift waiting for them on their next visit. Despite her disability, Kim stayed strong for her grandchildren and always ensured that they enjoyed their time together. She adored her only son, Toryan. They always had each other's back as mother and son. He was her heart.
Kimmie loved to smile and to make others smile. She loved to cook for her family, especially cabbage rolls and cheesecake, which she always made for family dinners. One of her favourite pastimes was playing Kinsmen bingo and listening to music. Kim will forever be remembered for her silly, sarcastic and loving ways. She had the ability to make others laugh in any situation. Seeing others smile gave her great joy. Kimmie was such a generous soul who always wanted to give you something before you left her home. She was so strong and resilient. And she had the most amazing smile.
Kim also leaves behind her partner Peter, dear friend John, buddy Darryl Cameron, big sister Lana; special cousins, Tommy Bird and Lois Ironquil, all her Bird cousins to whom she was known as sister Kim, special Aunty Gussy, and so many other friends and cousins whom she had special relationships with over the years filled with laughter and good times. Everyone has a silly Kimmie story. She was mom and dad's "Jammie", their "Jamtart".
Pallbearers are nephews, Jeremy, Tyrone, Jonah; cousins, William Bird, Keith Sinclair and Dave Garson. Honorary pallbearers are special cousins, Tommy Bird and Lois Ironquil. Cross bearer is grandson Zander Courchene.
Special thank you to Kim's home care workers, St. Boniface Hospital Emergency, and all of her dear friends and relations who checked on her regularly. Thank you everyone for your prayers, condolences, and most of all your support. The family will forever be grateful for the many special people who have shown their love for Kimmie.
Funeral to be held Thursday, May 28, 2020; however, due to the safety and restrictions of COVID-19 the service is reserved for immediate family only. A feast and memorial will be held at a later date. The family appreciates all of your patience and understanding during this very trying time.
