LORETTA MAH
(PETERS)
October 25, 1937 - May 24, 2020

Peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Loretta Mah left this earth for her Heavenly home on Sunday, May 24, 2020, at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg, MB.
She will be deeply missed by her daughters, Jody (Joao) and Tracey (Paul); son, Tyrone (Cheryl), also by her grandchildren, Jordan (Andrea), Toshman and Brontë; sisters, Kara, Sharron, and sister-in-law Leslie. She leaves behind nieces, nephews, many cherished friends, and her faithful canine companion Bamboo.
Loretta was predeceased by her beloved husband George (2007); parents, Elizabeth and Cornelius Peters; brother-in-law Leo; sister Gloria; and brother Randy.
Loretta was born in Winkler, Manitoba on October 25, 1937. She was devoted to her family and was happiest when her home was buzzing with activity. Mom loved spending time with her children; backyard barbeques, lunches, gardening and shopping!
With her big smile and vivacious personality, Loretta was always the "Life of the Party". She loved entertaining and especially enjoyed her Sunday lunches with `the girls'. An excellent cook, she was famous for her delicious shepherd's pie at church potlucks. Monthly breakfasts with her cousins were always marked with anticipation. Loretta generously contributed her time and energy to many worthy causes. Until recently, she was a dedicated volunteer at Pembina Place Mennonite Care Home. Her presence will also be missed at Bradford Agility where she was fondly known as Grandma.
A woman of unwavering faith, Loretta was an active member of Nassau Street Church. She was blessed with the ability to connect with people of all ages and was a role model and mentor to many. She participated with enthusiasm in many church activities such as quilting, prayer groups, Sunday service greeter, and the serving of Communion.
A favourite Bible passage shared by our parents was from Isaiah 40:31, "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk and not faint".
Loretta's family would like to express our gratitude to the staff at Victoria and St. Boniface Hospitals, with special thanks to charge nurses, Judy (5E) and Neil (Palliative Care), and to Sister Jean Ell for her prayers and comforting presence. Pastor Al Letkeman, your constant and continued support is greatly appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • There is a special spot in heaven for this amazing lady I will never forget. Her incredible smile, her zest for life. I had many long talks while grooming Bamboo for many years. We laughed about life and well we laughed about Bamboo's less then prefect behaviour. A bright star will be shining for this lovely lady I had the honour to know. Hugs. • Our deepest condolences as you grieve the sad loss of your dear mother, Jody, Tracey and Tyrone. Please accept our most sincere condolences in this trying time for you and your family. No loss is greater than the loss of a mother. She will be alive in your hearts forever. We share your pain and are here for you. Revelation 21:4, "He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” - Posted by: Monika & Leo (Friends) on: Jun 04, 2020

  • On numerous trips to my home/yard, Kip, “my tree guy” always had some anecdote about his Mother. I know he travelled to Winnipeg to work as an arborist but spending time with his Mother was his number one priority. I sensed from his comments she was wise, nurturing, creative and deeply loved by many. Thinking of you Kip at this very sad time. Wrap yourselves in each other during this time of sadness and remember the fond memories you all shared. Mothers are very special people. • Pretty Loretta...I will miss you dearly. I will miss your smile and your laugh, our talks and visits, your sense of style and grace. You lived life to the fullest, full of energy and always caring for others. I cherish the birdhouses and lawn ornaments from your yard that decorate my home and keep you near. Thank you for your warm friendship, love, and kindness. Rest in peace you will be greatly missed. - Posted by: Cheryl Kisil (Family friend) on: May 29, 2020

  • We lived across the lane from Miss Loretta and I truly found her to be one of the most beautiful people we had ever met. She was always tinkering around in her stunning garden in Fort Garry and always had a huge smile on her face. She always talked about her kids & grandkids, family was everything to her. You could hear the love in her voice, She will be missed my anyone that knew her. Rest in peace Miss Loretta "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day... unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear." - Posted by: Marie and Allan Gledhill (Neighbour/Friends) on: May 29, 2020
