Condolences & Memories (10 entries)

  • We met at the Shopper's Drug Mart: Him trying to get in and me getting out, we just started talking. He was looking for the bus to Peggy's Cove... . I just told him I would take him! It was instant connection! Sure thing the next day picked him up at his back packer place. We had a ball, Imagine him climbing on those rocks and me keeping hand out just in case!!! Both laughing. We stopped at the little cafe had a little snack. I could tell he was pretty tired and happy as I was! lol! We had a few days of visiting and he went home. We kept in touch through messenger. Our last conversation was about Covid I was very worried me working with the public... He though differently... then no more communication. Our last conversation was the 24 of April 2024. I just found out He past away short time after. Wish I had Pictures of that day to share! But I don't. He had his camera and pretty sure he took a few good shots. When two free spirits collides it makes magic those were magic moments. My thoughts and prayers to the family and friends! Love and Hugs! - Posted by: Dominique Deflandre (Friend from Nova Scotia) on: Nov 18, 2024

  • Recently reminiscing of a nerdy underground retro-tech Ramen event that took place off Higgins in Nov 2019... and the first thought was of Chris Johnson. Chris had managed to make it there, despite his health challenges he was as usual full of life and wonderfully eager to experience new things with his friends. We had wide-ranging conversations including of places that he dreamed to travel. It breaks my heart that this wonderful man is gone so soon and will never have the chance to experience those things. He will be greatly missed by our community. - Posted by: Colin Stanners (Fellow SkullSpace hackerspace community nerd) on: Mar 28, 2021

  • Chris Johnson passing shocked the world by storm . He had an affinity for making people laugh, being there for friends during difficult times. Smiling and being the best of situations . Fun to karaoke with and party with. Loved him will miss him dearly. Thoughts are with his family - Posted by: Derek Loewen (Classmate in University and Friend ) on: Nov 26, 2020

  • You are dearly missed, Chris... Your quirky sense of humour, your determination, and your eagerness to try new things are the things about you that I will remember most. SkullSpace will not be the same, and we will miss you a little extra when Bike Jams resume... Be well and at peace. - Posted by: Nathan Wild (Friend) on: Jun 15, 2020

  • This news makes me incredibly sad. Though I never met Chris in person, we were friends for several years online and chatted often. Chris and I both had health issues that affected our lives in different ways, which is why I think we hit it off so well. I admired how he dealt with his physical limitations. I will remember Chris fondly for his humor and wit, he seemed much older than he actually was. He was a good kid with a good heart and had a bright spirit about him. I pray his family is doing OK and that they know he was loved by a lot people. God speed my friend. - Posted by: Stephen Gaudet (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2020

  • I am so sorry to hear of Chris' passing. He was a great friend and community volunteer with an upbeat look at life. He will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Justin Lacko (Friend) on: Jun 13, 2020

  • I met Chris through a community organization. He impressed me with his drive and good humour. Sad to see he has left us so soon. Warm condolences to his lined ones and friends. - Posted by: Zanna (Community ) on: Jun 11, 2020

  • I just wanted to note that, as someone who knew Chris casually, through the cycling and arts community, he was always someone who took a moment out of his day to make you laugh, have a thoughtful discussion and was always good for a laugh. I met Chris when he entered/completed an inner-city bike race. He was inspirational and I often think about how cool and brave and selfless you'd need to be to throw yourself into these crazy fun situations. - Posted by: zach (friend) on: Jun 11, 2020

  • Coffee left on coffee table never safe, penaton cream fiasco Christian and Casey, toys out 2nd floor apartment window to ground below, watching Sesame Street, playing footsie, and "nahnie-nahnie" You will never be forgotten Christian - Posted by: Leslie Howie (Friend of mom) on: Jun 07, 2020

  • Christian was full of life. Had a curiosity about him. Super smart, creative, funny (though that could be debated at times), and fantastically nice guy to hang out with. I’ll miss him and think of our talks fondly. I’m so sorry for your loss. My condolences and best wishes to his family in this hard time. - Posted by: Brenna Sorokowski (Cousin) on: Jun 06, 2020
