LAURAINE GANTON

Peacefully, on Saturday, June 6, 2020, two weeks short of her 84th birthday, Lauraine passed away at Betel Home in Selkirk.
She leaves to mourn her daughter Colleen (husband Bob); her precious granddaughters, Stefanie, Lindsay (Dorian) and Chelsey (Chris) and great-granddaughters, Cadence and Cassidy. She will be watching over the two new arrivals later this summer.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Paul (2003) and their son Joe (2019). She was the last surviving sibling of that generation of the McLeod Clan and their spouses. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and their families, extended family members and many good friends, especially close friends, Tamara and Norma.
Special thanks to the nurses and staff members of Betel Home and the Tyndall Building at SMHC, for their care and dedication.
Due to restrictions, a private (immediate family), graveside service will take place at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • I was so sad to learn that Lauraine is not with us. She was a beautiful person inside and out. I knew Lauraine from friends in which we have lost touch and sadly the same happened with Lauraine and I. I would always think of her, especially around the holidays as she and i for quite a few years would decorate her place for Christmas together and share a cup of tea and some nice conversation. When friendships leave us in life one feels cheated; but with us Lauraine; our friendship has and will continue in love and spirit. My deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Leah (Friend ) on: Dec 26, 2020

  • We are so very sorry to learn of Lauraine's passing. I was in the army with Paul and we shared lots of adventures, some of which we could even repeat to others. Paul and I met up again in the Interlake and I got to meet Lauraine. We visited along with my wife and had some good times. After Paul passed, we saw Lauraine occasionally in Teulon and Stonewall. She missed Paul and losing Joe was heartbreaking for her. She is with them once again and that soothes the grief. - Posted by: Ted Monkman ansd Rae Reid (friends) on: Jul 02, 2020

  • To all of Lauraine's Family...I am so sorry to hear that this "Special" Lady has left you...We were friends in Teulon, for a few years. We shared many things, laughing and sometimes almost crying, at life's challenges. Lauraine knew my Aunts from Poplarfield. They had some good memories, when your Mom and Dad lived there. This lady was a joker, and had a charming way about her. She was so proud of every family member, and was so upset every time someone from Lundar was gone. She spoke about the Grandchildren, and how she loved each one, in a special way. And Colleen, your Mom was so proud to have a good daughter like you. She missed Joe, but understood that he worked away, and that he would show up in his old truck soon. She also spoke of the many places she and Paul moved to. She knew how to pack up, and move on to make more friends. We had fun, and I wish I had known her sooner. I visited only once in Selkirk, and she liked her new pad. She wanted to be closer to you Colleen, so that you would not have to travel so far to see her. She was concerned that she would take you away from your busy schedule. A "Fine Lady", she was...Take Care - Posted by: joan barten {welsh} (Friend from teulon) on: Jun 19, 2020

  • Colleen, Bob and family. Sending hugs and prayers to all of you. We so fondly remember your lovely mother who was our first neighbour when we met 45 years ago this month. She left a lasting impression with her quiet, warm welcoming ways. Your dad and her were awesome neighbours for a couple of newlyweds. Cherish all you memories and the love she had for you as she watches you from above with your dad and brother. - Posted by: Dave and Betty king (Friends and neighbours from long ago) on: Jun 13, 2020
