CHRISTA GORDICHUK
(nee HEESE)
1949 - 2020

Christa, beloved wife of George Gordichuk, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, on July 1, 2020, at St. Boniface Hospital, from the effects of COPD, a condition which she had been dealing with for many years.
She is survived by her husband, her children, Mike (Tracy) and Darryl (Brenda); grandchildren, Kylie, Codey and Blake; her brother Richard Heese (Margot); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws. She was predeceased by her father Egon Heese and her mother Helga Heese.
Affectionately known as "Mrs. G" by many, she immigrated to Canada in 1953, married her first love George in 1967 and together they raised their family in Transcona and spent many wonderful years at the Gordichuk homestead in Portage la Prairie, a family retreat. She spent most of her adult life working in the accounting profession, retiring in 2017, and then travelling with family and friends to Puerto Vallarta.
Christa loved music, dancing, and her favourite libation, but above all, she loved and adored her children and grandchildren. Nothing gave her more joy than the frequent family gatherings and her ability to interact with them. She will be dearly missed by all.
A celebration of Christa's life will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transcona East End Community Centre, 517 Pandora St. Social distancing standards will be observed, and face masks will be available.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Canada.
The family would like to thank the staff at the St. Boniface Hospital who cared for Christa during her short stay, and the comfort and compassion that was shown to the family in very trying circumstances.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Christa was my boss for at least 5 years, we became friends because how could you not. She was a caring and and compassionate boss and friend. Work was definitely a better place with her there. We talked about family (she loved hers deeply), the farm and BIG BROTHER lol. She had a such a great smile her whole face smiled and you then smiled, cause how could you not. My deepest sympathy and compassion to all her family members as they mourn her loss. The sun is a little less bright without you in the world. xoxo - Posted by: Lisa Johnson (Friend) on: Jul 22, 2020
