DAVID WILLIAM SCHMIDT
1949 - 2020
Left to mourn his passing are his wife of 51 years, Bobbi; son Todd (Joanne); daughter Tara (Rob), and his pride and joy, the grandchildren, Tyler and Katelyn. Also missing David are his sister Pat (Maurice) Verrier and family; brothers, Greg (Julie) and family and John (Marilyn) and family.
David will also be missed by his close friends, George, Ghis and Russ at their Musketeer lunch every Wednesday for the past 35+ years. The four have become three.
David was predeceased by two infant daughters, Sheryl and Darleen; his father Connie and mother Ina.
Although trying many careers including managing a dive store and spending many exciting hours under the ocean around Vancouver Island where we lived for a number of years, the one career Dave was most proud of was running a computer school with his brothers teaching computer programs to provide adults with the skills to re-enter the work force.
After Dave's retirement we enjoyed a number of trips to warmer climates in the winter months, which he had to plan out to the last detail before we left, or on a cruise where the relaxation was easy and the food was plentiful.
In keeping with Covid-19 restrictions, a private service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, if you so wish, David would be pleased if you made a donation to the Winnipeg Humane Society or an animal rescue of your choice.
"On to your next adventure Dave,
you have earned it."

Dave was the best boss at the Assessment Division and I speak of him often (like right now while having dinner). Dave was the best boss ever and I had to Quit since I was getting married and leaving the city. I am 82 now so I will be meeting him soon. I am so glad I found him……. - Posted by: Madeleine C. Bobbi: I just stumbled on this sad news moments ago, when watching a sports item on a hockey player named Dave Schmidt. I Googled OUR Dave...your DAVE...in Winnipeg, and unfortunately found his obituary. 50 years ago this week, Sue and I returned to CKNW in Vancouver after 7 engaging months at CJOB...and hanging around with you and Dave a lot. We had some great times as buds in those days...including the day in the restaurant at The Bay when you folks introduced us to fries smothered in gravy! I still love that! We hit 50 years this year, too. So sorry to see things ended for you guys far too soon. Brian: brian_antonson@hotmail.com - Posted by: Brian Antonson (Friends in 1970) on: Oct 13, 2020
