INGA (RUTH) COLLETTE
She is survived by her sister Denise Naytna; children, Donna-Lynn and James (Nina); longtime partner Ken Blackwell; granddaughters, Brooke (Dave) Brittany, Paige (Greg) and Rochelle (Jeremy); great-grandchildren, Finley, Logan, Ryker, Preslie and Ella.
Inga was predeceased by her parents, Jon and Thorne Johnson; sisters, Aurie, Bunny, Olive and Fiola; and brothers, Oscar, John and Laugi.
Inga was born and raised on the family farm in Riverton, MB, where she graduated and then moved to Winnipeg. She worked in a clothing factory where she did some modelling, was an office clerk at Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and retired in 1993 from Swift/Gainers as a sales rep.
Inga wasn't just the life of the party; she was the party, singing karaoke, playing her guitar and hosting shuffleboard parties in her basement. She was a member of the Elmwood Legion where she made many friends playing bingo and shuffleboard. Inga was also a devoted mother and Amma and especially enjoyed travelling and camping with Ken in their motorhome.
We would like to thank the staff at Meadowood Manor for all their care and great support for mom.
The family will hold a private burial with a public Celebration of Life announced at a later date.
Rest easy now Mom

Inga was my mother's best friend (Doris McDonald) and the Colette's have been great long-time friends of the McDonald family. Countless memories while we lived in Winnipeg and many more in Scottsdale Arizona. She will be missed! - Posted by: Scott McDonald (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2020

We are all very sorry to hear of Inga's passing . She was such a lovely person. She always had a big smile for everyone. We know how hard this must be for her family and how much she will be missed. Our lives have all been enriched from having had the pleasure of her friendship. Lorraine and her will be having a good laugh together. - Posted by: Lucille Butterfield, Cathy and Linda. Auntie Inga will be remembered fondly as someone who brightened up the room with her smile; for her abundant kindness and generosity; for her quick wit that left us in stitches; for singing us through good times and bad; for taking good care of Uncle Ken; and mostly for just being Inga.....someone we could always count on to make things better. You will be missed but never forgotten by Tracey and family. - Posted by: Tracey Reader (Niece ) on: Jul 21, 2020

Jim and Donna, I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your Mom. I know the last little while was difficult. Always had fun singing with her and the family at Karaoke. She really was the life of the party strumming away on her blue fender. May she rest peacefully now. - Posted by: Linda Rock (ex daughter in law) on: Jul 19, 2020

I first met Inga thru Ron Ralston (who passed away this November) at karaoke and then again at the Elmwood Legion when I joined shuffleboard. She and Ken entertained us at their place with games of shuffleboard. She was a caring wonderful lady full of life and I so enjoyed playing shuffleboard with her. May she rest in peace. I am so sad to hear of Inga's passing. Because of Covid I was unable to visit with her in her last months. She was truly a friend. I will always cherish the laughs and memories of growing up in Riverton and the memories of a Saturday afternoon listening to Inga and Ken singing at the many Karaoke bars in the city. Now my CD that was made by Inga and Ken becomes truly special...I will certainly miss you, Inga "Mexico". May you rest in peace. - Posted by: Lorraine Burton (Friend) on: Jul 18, 2020

Inga and I spent a day together a few years ago. We drove to Riverton, visited the Johnson farm and met Laugi and his wife. On the drive we had a lot of time to refresh our memories of the good times we had growing up. Inga was like a sister to me. I have only fond memories of Inga.
