KRISTEN DAWN KERNESTED
Kristen will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her parents, Grant and Karen; and her brother, Ryan. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Kristen was predeceased by her grandmother, Elsie Kernested; and her beloved dog, Toby.
Kristen was born in Winnipeg on March 20, 1994, and attended Stanley Knowles School and Tec Voc High School. After graduating from high school, she completed the Health Care Aide Program at Robertson College. Since 2014 she had worked as a home care attendant for the WRHA. She was passionate about providing care for seniors, and she carried out her job with great pride.
Kristen was a very kind, caring, thoughtful and fun-loving person, who enjoyed her times with her friends and family. She loved knitting and crocheting, and made many beautiful blankets she gave away as gifts. She also loved going to the family cottage.
Cremation has taken place, and a private gathering will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kristen's memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association.

I'm four years late writing something for Kristen but I think it is appropriate; it goes to show she is forever in our thoughts. Kristen was an awesome person that has left a lasting impression on all of us. Any time you hear a hearty laugh amongst your friends and family you can't help but remember Kristen, she had one of the all-time greatest laughs haha. Getting her into a giggle fit was hilarious and luckily with her personality it wasn't too hard to get her started! The joy that was expressed outwards in those moments was matched with a kindness and concern she had for the ones she loved and the care she provided to those she worked with in healthcare. By chance she ended up working with my late grandmother who at the time had pretty advanced Alzheimer's My mother saw how Kristen worked with her and had nothing but great things to say about the care she provided professionally and the care she showed personally. Your missed amongst your friends Kristen, even those of us that unfortunately had less and less contact through the years after school. Deuces. - Posted by: Dylan (Friend) on: Feb 03, 2025

Iām so sorry for your loss Grant, Karen and Ryan. I canāt begin to image how hard it is for you guys about her passing. I know you all loved her dearly, as did I. Itās going to be a long road ahead. I am so hurt, but I know she is in a better place with grandma Elsie now. She was my sister, the kindest soul Iāve ever known. Her infectious laugh and smile could brighten up any room she was in. Will always remember our best times and how much she was in love with summer and going to the lake.Iāll be with you again, I love you more than you can ever know. Kernested family. I was so very shocked and deeply saddened by this news. My heart goes out to you all. I spent a lot of time with Kristen when she work at the Kiwanis and she was always remember by the clients she saw as the sweet little red haired girl. She touched the lives of many with the care she provided and as well touched my life with her friendship. I was fortunate enough to spend time with her at the lake outside of work where she was truely in her element. Just know all of my memories with her will be fondly remembered, she was truely one of a kind. May you find peace and comfort in all who loved her. - Posted by: Shannon (Friend/coworker) on: Jul 26, 2020
