ELMA DRZEWIEC
(nee FREUND)
September 21, 1926 - July 29, 2020
She will be sadly missed by: her children, Larry Stadnyk (Janet), Brenda Stadnyk (Jill) and Roberta Pusnik (Gord); her sister Norma Lyndon and sister-in-law Linda Freund; grandchildren, Casey and Lucas Stadnyk, Jackie Hopkins, and great-grandchildren, Jayden and Reid Hopkins; as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Kaz, son Dennis, brothers, Freddie and Roy, sisters, Joyce and Elsie, brothers-in-law, Ed Lyndon and Mel Mehling, parents, Helene and Rudolf, and stepmom Paulina.
Mom was born in Steinbach and grew up on the family farm in Friedensfeld. Until recently, Mom was still staying in her own home in Winnipeg with the help of home care. She took pride in her house and in earlier years loved planting her flowers every year. When she would ask one of us to take her shopping for her flowers and plants, better bring a truck, her yard looked like a park. Mom loved playing cards and whenever anyone came over she said lets play a game of skip bo. Mom was loved by everyone who knew her, she was a special lady. Mom's faith was very strong, even in her last moments, she was at peace.
The funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB, with viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Burial at St. Paul's Cemetery, R.M. of Hanover, MB.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elma may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.

She was a lovely and wonderful person, I met her a total of no more than 5 times through a friend at the time, played Skipbo with her, lost to her quite a few times lol. She was a gem of a person, very warm, loving, caring and also lonely and her house was ticketyboo every time, she always had good food and loved to feed guests, I remember we got KFC for her one time which she really liked apparently. She had a very cute voice and a distinct accent which I was very fond of, using the word 'already' in every suffix of a sentence, reminded me of my Nanna with her warm smile and welcoming heart and I instantly became very fond of her because she was a very pure soul. I always wondered how she is and then I found this obituary and I'm heartbroken and extremely Saddened by this but also happy on one count that she is reunited in heaven with her loved ones. May your soul rest in peace Elma. - Posted by: Sunny Singh (Met her through a friend) on: Dec 30, 2021

Elma was my neighbour growing up! She babysat me many times my mom would just pass me over the fence while I was still sleeping. I enjoyed staying with her all the time! We would water the flowers, take naps in the basement and watch daytime soaps. she would always feed me cottage cheese which I loved. I am sad that she is gone but very grateful to have had her in my life. - Posted by: Chrystal Pilipchuk (Neighbor ) on: Feb 02, 2021
