I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Mr.Bates passing. Our sincere condolences to the entire Bates Family. Tyler your Father was an incredible person so positive and generous. I will always remember your dad working out at lunch hour at St. John’s High. He had quite the physique along with his big arms. I must say he inspired me to work out and get in shape. I’ll always remember getting a ride to Hockey and listening to your dads country music in his Chevy citation. You guys always welcomed me into your house on Macadam and I will never forget watching Hockey Night in Canada and the NHL playoffs. Those were really fun times we had together. You guys were blessed to have such an incredible role model in your life. Mr.Bates you made this world a better place and thank you 🙏 for everything!! - Posted by: Joe cohen (Family Friends ) on: Dec 30, 2020

I remember George and thank him for being a very kind and considerate friend. When Carole and George would come to pick me up, George, although blind, would get out of the front seat of the car, and give me his front seat to make me feel more comfortable. - Posted by: Elsie Stasiuk (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2020

It was an absolute honour to teach alongside George on our St. John’s High School team with team leader Sandra Petrie ( Macintosh back then). George was the anchor who stabilized the team if troubles arose. He taught his colleagues and students that civility, kindness, patience was as important a hallmark in teaching and learning as was content. Humorous to a fault and yet not knowing it, George had us wanting to come to school to experience his gregarious nature each and every day! Working alongside George was a privilege that I shall never forget. Respectfully, Garry Nix - Posted by: Garry Nix (Former teaching colleague) on: Aug 15, 2020

George and I were classmates and generally sat side by side in class at Teachers College and we had many great discussions back then. He was always so thoughtful and it was always great to share our experiences and aspirations. He made our world a better place and he will be missed. My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Erling Braaten (Friend) on: Aug 14, 2020

I was very saddened to hear of George's passing. We worked together at St. Johns High School...he being in the classroom next door and on the same team. I loved his sense of humour and appreciated his quiet steady way of getting the job done. I always admired George. Family was of great importance to him and he would often be driving to Saskatchewan to watch his sons hockey games. Condolences to all.
