SANDILANDS: Kathleen Jean McKinnell Sandilands (nee Murray) of Winnipeg, Manitoba passed away peacefully at home on Monday July 13th, 2020 at the age of 80. Kathleen was born at Tarrasfoot farm, Canonbie, Scotland in 1940.  Her father Simon and mother Williamina farmed Tarrasfoot, where Kathleen grew up.  Kathleen married Alistair in 1968 and moved to Glenzier Head farm and started a family, sons Robin, and twins Kenneth and Keith (deceased).  In 1983, the family moved to Birtle to continue farming until retirement in 2008.  Kathleen made many great friends in the Birtle area and enjoyed hobbies such as curling, golfing, vegetable and flower gardening.  In 2012, Kathleen moved to the Parkway retirement home in Winnipeg, where she quickly made new friends. Kathleen was predeceased by her husband Alistair, parents Simon and Williamina Murray, and brother Alex.  Survived by her son Robin (Maureen) and granddaughters Erica, Karine and Nicole; and son Kenneth, sister Margaret, nephews Bill, Alexander, and nieces Heather, Caroline and Fiona. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Celiac Association. The family would like to thank her friends for their support, AJ for helping with her care, the doctor, nurses, and staff at WRHA Palliative Care Program, and Cristina, Sylvie, Rhéanne, Jamie-Leigh and Amanda at Home Care Assistance.
