O'ROURKE: C. David. August 19, 1955 to January 2, 2009. Charles David "Dave" O'Rourke lost his fight with cancer January 2, 2009 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He left us far too soon with many plans to complete. He started his life's journey in Dauphin, Manitoba where he grew up. He met Linda, his soul mate and the love of his life 30 years ago. They were married in Dauphin and moved to Brandon where Dave entered business as an owner/entrepreneur. Family was a focus for Dave and he was very proud of their three sons Mark (fiancée Jen Minaker), Tim (fiancée Amanda Malley), and Scott. They will miss him greatly. Dave is also survived by three brothers and two sisters: John (Dianne) of Calgary, Alberta, Irene MacInnis of Dauphin, Manitoba, Marguerite (Dominic) Broaders of St. John's, Newfoundland, Maurice (Deanne) of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Christopher (Tracy) of Brandon as well as many nieces, nephews, and Linda's family. Dave was predeceased by his parents: Marie and Charles O'Rourke of Dauphin and his sister Anne Melinda O'Rourke. His family and his many friends in Yorkton and Brandon will miss his energy, sense of humour, joy of life, his willingness to help out, and his competitive spirit. Dave demonstrated an entrepreneurial flair, owning and managing a number of businesses, his latest, the Humpty's restaurant in Yorkton, where Linda's strong work ethic and Dave's business principles turned the restaurant into a successful business. He served Brandon as an avid Kinsman and developed friendships that lasted his entire life. His love of golf (challenging all competitors, especially his sons and brothers) and fishing added balance to a busy and full life. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, 327 4th Street, on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. Celebrant will be Fr. Dominic Yuen. Pallbearers will be Dave Perkins, John Russell, Brian Kruk, Trent Reid, Bob Woloshyn and Keith O'Rourke. Interment will follow at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Flowers are gratefully declined.
