QUEEN: Kenneth Russell Queen, June 8, 1933 - January 15, 2009. Kenneth was born to Russell W. and Mary Queen on their home farm in Gosfield North Township, Essex County, Ontario, a little brother for sister Gladys. He attended SS #12 and Essex District High School where he excelled in his school studies. In 1948, the family left the farm and moved to Essex, Ontario. After one year, they moved to Cottam, Ontario where Russell became a carpenter with the Jones Gang. Upon graduation, Kenneth joined them until he was well able to have his own group of builders. Many of the homes in the Essex County area were wholly or partially created by Kenneth. He worked for many years for Naylor’s Kitchen and Bath, even operating an outlet in Essex for them. For some years he worked for the Beaver Lumber Company out of Essex, Leamington, and Tilbury, specializing in bathroom and kitchen renovations. He enjoyed the creating. In 1960, he married Pearl Vane. In 1962 son Mark arrived, and they had many special memories of camping across Canada. Kenneth retired in 1992 for health reasons and in 1993 he and Pearl moved to Glenboro, Manitoba to be near her family. Kenneth loved his adopted kittens, his home, his family, his books and his motorcycle. There was nearly always a woodworking project underway. Kenneth passed away on January 15, 2009, after a long battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his sister Gladys in 1947, his father in 1983 and his mother in 1988. He is survived by his wife Pearl, son Mark, and daughter-in-law Liane, as well as by a loving extended family. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will take place at a later date in the Millford Cemetery.
