GODFREY: John (Jack) Clinton passed away on January 5, 2009 at Souris Health Centre. Jack was born on April 14, 1925 in Hartney, Manitoba, to Billy and Mabel Godfrey. He attended Dand School. He worked on different farms in the Dand District and went to Flin Flon in 1946 to work for Hudson Bay Mines. In 1951 he married Bea Durston. They had three children, Linda, David and Billy. They moved to Virden in 1954, where Jack worked for British American Oil Co. and resided there until 1972. They moved to Souris where Jack worked for Lang Motors for 13 years. Jack enjoyed being active with hockey. His passion was his music and playing his saxophone which he was involved with his special friends entertaining many people. He was also very active with his church. Jack was predeceased by his wife Bea in 1998 and his older sister Eva Cassils in 2006. He is survived by his children: Linda Baker of Souris, David (Carman) of Red Deer, Alberta, Billy (Kim) of Brandon; six grandchildren, Ryan (Dianna) Baker of Brandon, Samantha Baker (Chris) of Leduc, Alberta, Nicholas Godfrey, Andy Alverez (Cassie, Ariana and Kiana) of Red Deer, Alberta, and Kierra and Shea Godfrey of Brandon; one great-grandson Riley Baker of Brandon. He is also survived by his twin sister Jean Morton of Deloraine, Manitoba, and numerous nephews and nieces. Funeral service was held in Souris United Church officiated by Rev. John Oldenkamp. Arrangements were in care of Kowalchuk’s Funeral Home. In memory of Jack, donations can be made to the Souris Town Beautification Fund, Souris, Manitoba.
