SHEA: Frances Georgina Shea (nee Moir), June 18, 1926 - February 1, 2009 Frances was born in Hartney, Manitoba to Lillian and George Moir. She is predeceased by her parents; her husband Bill (William) Shea; her brother Arthur Moir and his wife Dora; her sister-in-law Kay Moir; and her brother-in-law Ed Mansoff. She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Shea of Edmonton, Alberta and Patricia Nichols (and partner John Hardman) of Ochre River, Manitoba; her brother Cyril Moir of Hartney, her sister Edith Hayden (and husband Paul) of Brandon, her brother Harvey Moir and wife Evelyn of Victoria, BC and her sister Ruth of Calgary, Alberta, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frances lived most of her adult life in Winnipeg, relocating there after training as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse at Brandon Mental Hospital. She nursed for over 25 years at Misericordia General Hospital until retiring in 1991. Fran had previously worked as a telephone operator in Hartney and retail clerk in Brandon. Frances and Bill married on July 1, 1961. In 1964 they moved to Danbury Bay where they lived until Bill's passing in 1997. Frances relocated to the Westwood area. During that time she enjoyed visiting Cheryl in Edmonton, and backyard BBQ's with Pat, her grand-dogs, and making new friends at Westwood Community Church. For the last seven years Fran has been a resident of Extendicare Oakview Place in Winnipeg where, until her health declined, she enjoyed numerous activities including church services, sing songs, walking in the garden and of course her favourite...the ice cream socials. Cheryl and Pat wish to thank the staff (especially those on the second floor) for their kind, attentive care to Fran over the years. A memorial service was held Saturday, February 7, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with lunch to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Extendicare Oakview Place, 2395 Ness Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba R3J 1A5 or the Mars Hill Centre, Box 4400, Edmonton, Alberta, T6E 4T5.
