MCLAREN: James (Jim) Miller McLaren passed away on February 11, 2009. Jim will be missed by his family: wife of 43 years Lorraine, daughter Lisa (Cory Jasper), son Ken (Lana Watson) and his grandchildren Dustin and Kaleigh Jasper. Jim was predeceased by his parents Clifford Thomas McLaren and Margaret Edith Miller and sister Sheila. Jim was born in Albert Municipality, Manitoba on February 7, 1942. He attended school in Brandon and loved sports especially hockey and tennis. Jim and Lorraine were married in 1965 at St Augustine’s Church. Jim received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1970 and became a partner at Meyers Norris Penny in 1971. He was with Meyers Norris Penny from 1961 to 1979. He then started his own accounting business in the early 1980s to focus on personal and small business clients. Jim was very proud of his children and grandchildren and was a wonderful husband, dad and poppa. The family spent a lot of time together including many weekends at their cottage and family vacations which they all thoroughly enjoyed. Jim will be remembered for his kindness, caring and sense of humour. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustine’s Roman Catholic Church, 327-4th Street, on Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Dominic Yuen as Celebrant. Interment will follow at the Brandon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parent Child Home Program c/o Child and Family Services of Western Manitoba Foundation, 800 McTavish Avenue, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7L4 or to a charity of your choice.
