SNOW: Lois Elizabeth (nee Thompson). It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our Mother at the Russell Hospital, on January 17, 2009, at the age of 80 yrs. After many years of coping with C.O.P.D. Mother left us very peacefully with her family by her side. Mom was predeceased by Dad (Doug) in 1995 and a son, Lloyd in 1953. Mother will always be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Geraldine (Wayne Webster), and sons, Jim (Carol), Rick (Lorraine), Rodney (Anna Marie), Maurice (Joy) and Warren (Darlene). Also left to cherish her memory are twelve grandchildren, David, Diana, Scott, Paige, Brent, Adam, Jeremy, Janna, Terra, Kyle, Kayla, and Jennifer As well as, nine great grandchildren, six nieces and seven nephews. Mom was born in Indian Head, Sask., raised and schooled in the Oak River/Cardale area. She was working in Winnipeg when she met Dad. They married on August 2, 1946 and moved to Birtle where they lived on the farm for 57 years. Mother lived her last four years in her new home next door to Rodney and Anna. She loved the many flower gardens around her house and enjoyed many hours playing cards with her very special friends, Lenore and Allan. A memorial service was held on January 21, 2009 at Braendle-Bruce Funeral Home with Deacon Conrad Plante officiating. Internment will follow in the Birtle cemetery next July. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Cancer Society or the Russell Pallative Care Unit.
