DAVISON: George Ira Davison of Carberry, Manitoba passed away at the Carberry Personal Care Home, January 27, 2009, with his family at his side.George was born at Souris, Manitoba to George and Jean Davison, October 31, 1929; along with his twin brother, Gerald. They were the youngest of five children. He grew up on the family farm, and received his education at Souris, Manitoba. He worked for the CPR running trade, out of Kenora, Ontario. In 1954 he married Verlie Kinnear of Winnipeg. They had three children: Richard, Geraldine and Laura. In 1961 he moved the family back to Manitoba to farm. He settled in the Oberon area in 1964, and combined farming and working at the Carberry potato plant, for many years. Then he farmed along with his son Richard, retiring in 1999. George and Verlie lived on the farm until the fall of 2006, when they moved to Carberry. George spent the last year of his life at the Carberry Personal Care Home. George enjoyed hunting, fishing, and restoring and driving antique autos. He was accompanied usually at the farm, by his faithful black Lab dog, Sandy. He was predeceased by an infant grandson, Curtis, brother Jack, and twin Gerald, and brother-in-law Art Tully. Surviving are his wife Verlie, son Richard (Jackie), and family, daughter Gerri(Earl) and family, daughter Laura (Gerard) and family. Also surviving, brother Bill (Frances), sister Lois Tully, sisters-in-law Hazel and Judy, Mother-in-law Mildred Kinnear, sister-in-law Lois Botten, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral was held Jan. 31, 2009 from Carberry United Church with Rev. George Cargo officiating. Internment to follow at a later date. Pallbearers were grandsons Evan, Bryan, and Gregg Reynolds, Geoff and Kirk Davison, and Matthew Bohrn. If friends so desire memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
