CHAPMAN: George Walter, beloved husband of the late Isabelle Chapman, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2009. George was born on the farm in Daly Municipality on June 20, 1913 and we truly believe that those strong roots contributed immensely to his long life. Realizing that there were other opportunities than the farm, he ended up in the R.C.A.F. Twice he was summoned to go overseas – Europe and Japan – however, his superiors chose to keep him on Canadian soil. Following the war, he, Isabelle and the young family decided to make their home in Brandon. George chose to become an entrepreneur, running a TV/Radio repair shop and sporting goods store. He enjoyed nothing more than fishing, be it at Clear Lake or Lake William. George is lovingly remembered by his children, Sherrill (Phil), Judy (Peter) and Donald, eight grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, brother Albert and his family, and brother Raymond.
