SCHWARTZ: The family is saddened to announce the passing of Adam Schwartz at Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home in the afternoon of Saturday, March 7, 2009. He is at last at peace and rest with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Adam was born December 4, 1919 in the RM of Stanley, near Morden, Manitoba. His parents were Emma Stermer and Joseph Schwartz. His father passed away when Adam was two years old. He joined the army May 20, 1941 with the Canadian Corps. of the Rocky Mountain Rangers of Portage la Prairie. He married Lily Shareski February 12, 1944 while he was still in the army. Adam then travelled to Vernon, British Columbia and then he was sent to Kishka in the Aleution Islands. He was discharged November 15, 1945. Adam and Lily farmed in the Deloraine area for a number of years. Following farming they moved to Brandon where he worked as a mechanic with Parks and Recreation. Adam had many interests: hockey, curling, golfing, reading, woodworking. He also enjoyed helping Harvey and Rod on the farm and fixing anything he could. He is survived by his loving wife, Lily of 65 years; daughter Barb (Harvey) Paterson and their children: Rod (Lana), Wendy (Ron); great-grandchildren Riley and Savannah; son David (Ollie) and their sons Jason and Ryan (Jolene); great-granddaughter Ava; daughter Karen (Keith) Buechler and their son Chris (Laura); great-granddaughter, Gwen; daughter Cathy (Rick) Petrinack and their daughter Melissa. Adam was predeceased by special granddaughter Angelia; his father, step-father, and mother; brothers: Ed, Paul, and Harold; sisters: Hertha, Martha, Esther and Edna. The Funeral Service to Celebrate Adam's Life was held at McDiarmid Drive Alliance Church on March 12, 2009. Pastor Dan Pope and Pastor Earl Ricalton officiated. Special music was provided by Bruce Curtis, Karrie Smythe and Deanna Danielson. Pallbearers were: Willis Stitt, David McAuley, Keith Buechler, Jason Schwartz, Ryan Schwartz, and Ron Richardson. Interment followed in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Adam may be made to Turtle Mountain Bible Camp, Box 1198, Boissevain, Manitoba, R0K 0E0 or to The Gideon's, P.O. Box 3619 Stn.
