LOVATT: Doris Luella (Cook) Lovatt was born January 5, 1915 northeast of Deloraine. In 1940 she married Robert Lovatt, a farmer from Hayfield, Manitoba. Mom was very involved in the Hebron and Riverview communities. Over the years Mom was a 4-H leader, belonged to the U.C.W. Rebekah Lodge, Souris Drop In Centre, and was active on the resident councils at Crescent Manor, Victoria Park Lodge, and Souris Personal Care Home. She lived on the farm until 1972 when she moved to Souris. She lived in an apartment and later moved to Crescent Manor, Victoria Park Lodge, and has spent the last nine years in Souris Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lovatt in 1972, and son Donald in 2000. Surviving her are two daughters, Eleanor Hayes (Gordon) from Flin Flon, and Lynne Janz (Peter) from Souris, and daughter-in-law Gladys Lovatt from Souris. Grandchildren, Rhonda Lovatt Simon (Brian) and their children Emily and Megan from Souris; Trevor Janz (Tara) and their children Travis and Taylor from Spruce Grove, Alberta; Jeff Janz (Kim) and their children Kyla, Lane, Anna, and Elijah from Goodlands, Manitoba; Bob Lovatt and his children Alex and Grace from Brandon; Shane Hayes (Sharon) and their children Grayson and Barrett from Marathon, Ontario; Darcy Hayes (Sherri) and son Corbin from Calgary, Alberta; and Loretta Janz Turner (Lon) and their children Hayden and Jenna, from Beaumont, Alberta. Funeral service was held in St. Paul’s United Church, Souris, on April 3, 2009 with Rev. John Oldenkamp officiating. Pallbearers were Rhonda Simon, Trevor Janz, Jeff Janz, Bob Lovatt, Darcy Hayes, and Loretta Turner. Interment was in the Souris and Glenwood Cemetery. People everywhere in life from every walk and station, have given me so many things intangible and dear.Donations in memory of Doris can be made to the A.R.H.A. - P.C.H. Sunroom Fund.
