ROBINSON: Eleanor Robinson of Minnedosa, passed away quietly April 3, 2009, at the age of 70 years. Eleanor was born in Minnedosa on May 26, 1938 to William and Rebecca Lace. She attended school at Hazelwood and Minnedosa. After graduating from high school, she attended the St. Boniface School for Practical Nurses. Eleanor’s practical training took place in Deloraine and Ste. Rose. She met and later married Arnold Robinson (Barney) on June 27, 1959. They then lived on the family farm near Moore Park. It was here that they raised their four children. Family was very important to Eleanor. She was very involved with her children supporting them in whatever activity they chose. Family barbecues and picnics at Clear Lake were always made special. She was also the most wonderful mother-in-law when new members were brought into the family. Later, her grandchildren brought her a great amount of joy and laughter. Eleanor later returned to work at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home. Her loving and caring nature made her a favorite with both residents and staff. Many close friends were made over the years, and she loved to spend time with them. Going out for coffee with anybody that cared to join her, family or friend; Aquacises, she loved the water; outings with the Red Hat Purple Pansies. Spring was especially looked forward to. Digging in the garden and cursing the crab grass. Eleanor was so very proud of her beautiful flowers. New varieties were purchased every spring and marveled at until fall. Eleanor was predeceased by her sister Marjorie Lace, parents William Briscoe Lace and Rebecca Lace, as well as husband of 35 years, Arnold Osborne Robinson. She is survived by sons David (Patti) of Souris, Manitoba, Brian (Darla), Neil (Kim), both of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and daughter Colleen of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Grandchildren: Jonathan, Adam (Leslie), Kevin (Laura), Daryl and Christine. Eleanor is also survived by sister Dorothy (Thomas) Briscoe of Minnedosa and many nieces and nephews. As by Eleanor’s request, a private graveside ceremony was held April 8, 2009. Eldest son David was urnbearer. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Gary McDowall. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to the Brummitt-Feasby House or ALS Society of Manitoba, 2109 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3J 0L3.
