McCANNELL: Eunice (Holland) McCannell. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Eunice (Holland) McCannell on March 6, 2009, peacefully at the dialysis unit in Boundary Trails Health Centre with family by her side. Eunice was born June 4, 1924, in Northwich, Cheshire, England to Frank and Edith Holland. Mom leaves to mourn her loving husband of 60 years, Ross; children: Leith (Allan) Fallis, Trudy (Garry) Taylor, Curtis (Jackie) McCannell, daughter-in-law Brenda McCannell. Grandchildren: Shannon and Travis (Ethan and Jillian) Klassen, Mark (Richelle) Fallis, Becky and Darcy (Kolby and Maden) Simard, Brooke McCannell and Gary Adair (Taylor), Kyle, Kristen and Kayla McCannell, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Bruce, parents, three sisters and four brothers. Mom immigrated to the Wood Bay District in 1927, with her family. She was the youngest of eight children. She attended Gowancroft School until grade nine, when she went to work for Moffatt’s Dairy, near Pilot Mound. In 1942 Mom joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and went to Ottawa, Ontario for training. When done training she worked at MacDonald until 1946. On December 11, 1948 she married Ross McCannell at the home of Ivan and Jean Adams. In the spring of 1949 they purchased SW 6-4-11 where they resided until 1985 when they retired to Pilot Mound. Mom loved to garden and bake and her kitchen was always open to family and friends with whom she loved visiting. Mom also enjoyed Choristers, the U.C.W., curling, the Horticultural Society, harness horse races, visiting at Sandy Lake, golfing and camping. Later she enjoyed going to the grandchildren’s sports and festivals. She was a hard worker and would always put others’ needs before her own. Mom was a devoted farm wife and mother. A funeral service was held March 23, 2009 at the Pilot Mound United Church. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or a charity of their choice. Graham’s Funeral Service was in care of arrangements.
