ROBINSON: William (Bill) Murray, It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of Bill, with his family by his side, at the Melita Health Centre on April 20, 2009. Bill was born October 21, 1939, to Bev and Marion (Reid) Robinson on the family farm. He attended school at Bede and Melita. On October 29, 1960, Bill married Dorothy Turnbull and together they raised their family of two children, Denise and Murray. Bill and Dorothy farmed near Bede until 1980 and then moved to Brandon to work for Manitoba Housing until his retirement. They moved back to Melita in December 2004 to join family and friends for their retirement. Bill was not a man of many words but his family knew how much he cared in the little things he did for them. Something he was known for by his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews was tickling until you were either crying or laughing so hard you could hardly breathe. That came to a stop when his grandson broke his nose during one of these episodes. One of his passions in life was hunting, whether with the big groups or just out by himself scouting the bushes. What started with a rifle in the early years ended with shooting the wildlife with a camera as he got older. He also loved to fish and took great pride when his children or grandchildren caught the big one and you were usually rewarded with a framed picture. Bill was very seldom without a camera and loved to videotape his grandchildren and take a lot of pictures. He also loved to camp, whether at Oak Lake, Curran Park or in his daughter's backyard. He just loved being outside and the peace and quiet. When he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and told he should lose some weight he took it quite seriously and started walking. What started out as a block a day ended at 6-7 miles a day. He loved being outside and all the visits with other people out walking. Bill was also a devoted member to the Melita Legion and upon returning to Melita he started attending their meetings. He also rarely missed coffee in the afternoons whether at the food court in Brandon or one of the coffee shops in Melita catching up with the latest gossip. Bill will always be remembered for his quiet manner and his love of the outdoors. He will always be in our hearts, we love you and will miss you. He was predeceased by his parents Bev and Marion (Reid) Robinson; sister Beverly Tardif; brother Ian; in-laws Walter and Jean Turnbull; brother-in-law Lloyd Turnbull; and sister-in-law Edna Turnbull. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 48 years of Melita; daughter Denise (Brian) Teetaert of Melita and their children Stacey of Winnipeg, Reid of Carlyle and Brett of Melita; son Murray (Janice) and their children Corissa and Taylor all of Brandon; sister Noreen (Jack) Junson of Winnipeg; three sisters-in-law Corinne (Ray) Elliott of Napinka, Verna Robinson of Calgary and Gladys Turnbull of Nampa, Alberta; brother- in-law Howard (Verbena) Turnbull of Elgin; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at the Melita Cemetery on April 23, 2009 with Rev Barb Alston officiating. Granddaughters Stacey and Corissa sang Amazing Grace and the eulogy was given by his grandson Reid. the urnbearer was a dear friend Vi Carr. Arrangements were in care of Redpath Funeral Home Melita 522-3361. To send condolences or special memories to the family, please visit: www.redpathfuneralhome.com
