SCHOFIELD: Sergeant Shane Anthony Schofield of Wawanesa, beloved husband of Rene, passed away suddenly on April 29, 2009 at the age of 28 years. Shane was born on June 19, 1980 at Sackville, Nova Scotia. He attended high school at Milwood High School where he was well known for his great sense of humor and big heart. Shane loved playing on the school hockey team and his dressing room name was “Juke Box” reflecting his passion for music. After high school, Shane joined the Military and served with the Second Battalion Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in C.F.B. Shilo, Manitoba. He gallantly served four tours of duty, one in Bosnia and three in Afghanistan. Shane was a devoted husband and father and he loved spending time at home with his family. He also enjoyed playing recreational hockey with the Wawanesa Jets in his spare time. Shane is survived by his wife Rene, sons Teegan and Layne, parents Charlton and Cathy Schofield, brother Brett Schofield, Rene’s parents Darrell and Denise Boughton and brother-in-law, Ryan (Lisa) and their son, Caleb. The Funeral Service will be held at the Sturgeon Creek United Church, 207 Thompson Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba on Friday, May 8, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Beth Rutherford officiating. It has been requested that all attendees arrive by 1:30 p.m. for Military Rites. Interment will take place at Oakridge Memoy Gardens in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia. Donations in memory of Shane may be made to “Rene Schofield in Trust of Teegan and Layne Education Fund,” c/o RBC Royal Bank, Box 146, Wawanesa, Manitoba, R0K 2G0.
