MILLER: Eileen Miller (nee Chase). It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Eileen Miller (nee Chase) passed away with her family at her side on May 12, 2009 at the age of 74. She was predeceased by her husband Norman and her father David Chase. Left to mourn her passing are her children: Randy (Bev) of Neepawa, Rhonda Schellenberg of Winnipeg, Sandra (Daryle Kaskiw) of Winnipeg, and Brent (Laura) of Glenella; her grandchildren: Lindsay (Saskatoon), Derek (Chelsea) (Ottawa), Robert (Winnipeg), Kelsey, Hallie and Braeden (all of Glenella) and her great grandchild Madison (Neepawa). Also left to mourn is her mother Adella Chase of Roblin, her brothers Keith (Jeanette) and Dennis (Carole) of Roblin and Garth (Lynette) of Yorkton and numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her Miller family, who were very important to her as well: Jack and Marlene Miller (Roblin), Lorna Miller (The Pas), Elmer Miller (Lone Butte BC), Agnes and Bill Hembroff (Saskatoon), Ella Becker (Roblin), Irene Hack (Surrey BC), Leona Miller (Surrey BC) and Phyllis Miller (Surrey BC) and numerous nieces and nephews. Eileen was born on November 18th, 1934 to David and Adella (nee Jaasund) Chase in Bield, MB. She attended school in Roblin and then went to work in the early 50s as a school teacher in a one room school. After teaching for a few years she returned to Roblin where she worked in the Royal Bank for a couple years, until in 1956 Norman convinced her to marry him and move to Surrey, B.C. They had two children while in Surrey, Randy in 1958 and Rhonda in 1963. In late 1963 they moved back to Bield Manitoba where they operated a small general store. Their third child, Sandra, soon followed in 1965. In 1966 the family moved to The Pas MB where Norm began his career in the grain elevator business and Eileen tended to the family. In 1968, they added the final addition to their family with the birth of Brent. In 1972 they moved to Inglis, Manitoba where Norm continued to work in the elevator business while Eileen tended to the family and worked in a general store. 1980 found the family moving to Champion, Alberta for a year and then back to a small town, Tenby, Manitoba, a year later. In Tenby Norm and Eileen became known for their large beautiful flower gardens and their plentiful vegetable gardens. They spent a great deal of time tending to these gardens and spending time with their grandchildren. Eileen and the family remained in Tenby until 1992 when Norm retired and they moved to Neepawa, Manitoba. Eileen and Norm resided in Neepawa and their yard had gardens that were enjoyed by all. They often shared their vegetables with neighbors and friends. They twice won the title of Best Kept Yard of the Year which was awarded by the town. When Norm passed away in 2006, Eileen remained in the house for another year until she decided it was time to move to a more manageable home. She moved into the Elks Manor in Neepawa in April of 2007. Once she adapted to the new environment, she really enjoyed the time she spent with the girls of the 6th floor and looked forward to talking with them, doing puzzles and sharing some laughs over a glass of wine. She also looked forward to having the family together and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchild grow and discover their personalities as they grew up. She got great joy out of all the grandchildren and would recount their stories and most recent sayings and humorous situations with great delight. Mom was a kind, caring person who spend the last several years of her life caring for Dad through his illness. She was always willing to listen and gained great joy from her grandchildren and great-children. The family wishes to thank the nurses and all the staff at the Neepawa Hospital for making Moms final days comfortable. Special thanks go to Dr. Ong (we have appreciated your honesty and compassion that you showed both Mom and Dad), Dr. Kelly, Dr. White, and nurses Cynthia, Kim, Nadine, Margo, Kristin, Hugo, Robin, Lois, Heather and all those who we may have forgotten to name but will not be forgotten by us. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 15th at 1pm at the United Church in Neepawa. Arrangements care of Whites Funeral Home, Neepawa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Neepawa Health Care Centre or Neepawa Palliative Care.
