ELSTON: Dorothy Irma Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on May 3, 2009. Dorothy was in her 79th year and was born and raised in Brandon, Manitoba. Beloved wife of Clay Elston, and loving mother of son Robert Elston (Kym), daughter Laura Elston, and grandchildren Jennifer and Clarke Elston. Dorothy is survived by sisters, Shirley Mitchell (Walter) of Edmonton, Alberta, Anna Wall, and Fran McKeown-Milne of Brandon, Manitoba. Dorothy was predeceased by her brother Jack Roberts of Calgary and her sister Florence Daniels, Edmonton, Alberta. Since her arrival in Kingston in the mid 1950s with her husband Clay, Dorothy played a very active role in a wide range of community activities. Throughout her life, Dorothy maintained her profound love of music. She was blessed with a well-trained and beautiful coloratura soprano voice, and often appeared as guest soloist with the Kingston Symphony. In the mid 1960s she formed the Gadabouts Senior Citizens Choir. During the next decade the choir made two cross-Canada tours, including a concert in her home town, Brandon, Manitoba. She also traveled with her choir to England and Wales, where they were honored to perform at Queen Elizabeth’s Garden Party, in London.
