ROME: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Mother and Grandmother, Reita Rome, with her family at her side on May 9, 2009, at Fairview Personal Care Home. She was predeceased by her husband Morley, ten siblings, her parents, Reginald and Flossie Doig and two great-grandchildren. Left to mourn are her children, Dennis (Karen) Rome, Linda (Ron) Krushel, Sandra (Jim) McLean and her grandchildren, Ryan (Kim), Red Deer, Reagan (April), Brandon, Aaron (Adrian), Brandon, Ashton (McKenzie), Brandon, Troy (Heather), Toronto. Tracey (Shane), Brandon, Scott (Roseanne), Airdrie, Pamela (Dennis), Treherne, Sheila (Jeff), Wawanesa, Shelley (Louis), Dunrea, Trevor (Suzanne), Toronto. Also left to mourn are eleven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Marjorie Oliver, brother-in-law Lloyd Groves. She was born November 30th, 1924 in Glenboro where she grew up and in later years moved to Winnipeg. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and was stationed in Ottawa in the finger printing department. She married Morley Rome on June 11, 1946. They moved to the farm at Nesbitt where they raised a family and worked together for fifty two years. In the fall of 1999 Reita moved to Brandon where she enjoyed condo living. Due to declining health she moved to Fairview Home in April 2008. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #3 Branch in Brandon. Her interests centered around her family. She was always eager to attend many events that family was involved in, including baseball, hockey, graduations, Christmas concerts, family weddings, reunions, and musical events. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, sewing, needlework and crafts. She enjoyed curling in the winter and golfing in the summer with her friends. She enjoyed summers in Killarney with campground friends and winters in Mesa, Arizona. Active pallbearers were Scott Van Den Bussche, Trevor Van Den Bussche, Troy Krushel, Ryan Rome, Reagan Rome, Aaron Rome, Ashton Rome and Gerry Rome. Funeral services were held Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Central United Church, Brandon. Donations in memory of Reita may be made to your charity of choice. Arrangements were with Brockie Donovan.
