PARROTT: Darcy Charles Parrott passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Darcy was born at Vegreville, Alberta on October 18, 1956. He graduated from Neepawa & Area Collegiate in 1974. Darcy went on to receive his Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic Diploma, with Interprovincial status, from Assiniboine Community College in 1981. He began his apprenticeship with Streeter Power Sales in Neepawa, Manitoba. For allof his life, Darcy worked as a Heavy Duty Equipment Mechanic. From 1979 to 1988, he worked for Freightliner and from 1988 up until his passing workedfor the City of Brandon. In 1996, Darcy took a leave of absence from the city, for a term position, teaching entry level in the Heavy Mechanic Program at ACC. In 1994, Darcy received his Diploma in Management Skills and Business Administration also from ACC. He attended many tech courses, as it was very important to him to keep current in all aspects of his work. From the early 90’s until his illness, Darcy also had a side business, ParrottMobile Diesel. Darcy coached the Crocus Plains Girls’ Rugby team, was a part of the Brandon Redeemer Scout Parents Group, and the Westman Stock Car Club. He was very involved with Judo Kan, Judo Manitoba, as a Legion Athletic Judo Coach, and the Barbarian Rugby Team. Darcy enjoyed fitness, rugby, judo, hunting and his hunting cabin, the outdoors, camping, and restoring classic vehicles. He received his Nidan (2nd degree black belt), and completed his Level 3 coaching in Judo. Darcy tackled any undertaking with 150% and thensome; if it was worth doing, he did it well. His number one interest was in his children: Jeff and Jodi. Nothing would ever top this. Darcy is survived by: wife Debbie; son Jeff (fiancé Danille); daughter Jodi (special friend, Lochlin); parents Ron and Beryl Parrott; siblings: Jim (Sally), Bob (Helene), Murray (Kerry), Gerald (Rosemary), and Marjorie (Melvin). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. The Ceremony to Celebrate Darcy’s Life will be held at Central United Church, 327 8th Street, on Saturday, May 23, 2009 (today) at 3:00 p.m. Urn Bearers are Darcy’s children Jeff and Jodi.
