TURNER: Mary Thelma Turner (Hunt). With heavy hearts the family announces the passing of Mary Thelma Turner on May 20, 2009, at her residence in Hillcrest Manor. Thelma was born and raised in Ninga, Manitoba. She married John Alfred Turner in Brandon, Manitoba in 1940. They lived in Boissevain most of their married life, and raised their three boys there. Thelma was a stay at home mom while the boys were growing up. She then began work at the local bakery for many years, where she enjoyed sharing jokes and pranks with the coffee crowd. Thelmas extended family was important to her and she made sure her family attended all of the Hunt family holidays and functions. She also kept in close contact with her family and friends as they moved away from the Boissevain/Ninga area. Thelma enjoyed following her sons in their many sporting activities. She also loved her coffee pals and a game of cards. Thelma was a faithful member of St. Matthews Anglican Church in Boissevain and involved with the ACW for many years. She was also a member of the Boissevain Legion Ladies Axillary. An infant daughter Caroline predeceased Thelma in 1947; husband John in 1986, her grandson-in-law Terry in 2004. She was the last surviving member of her family of 11 siblings. Thelma is survived by three sons, Ron (Shirley), Bob (Betty Anne), Brett (Therese), eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grand children and one great-great-grand child. She also leaves to mourn her passing sister-in-law Dorothy Hunt, brother-in-law Jim Opperman, as well as many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held at St. Mathews Anglican Church and internment at Ninga Cemetery.
