WENGER: The death of Sylvia Wenger of Brandon occurred in the city on Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Sylvia was born March 21, 1917 at Treesbank, Manitoba. Sylvia worked in a sewing factory for a short period of time. After her marriage to Gilbert Wenger she was a hard working mother raising eight children. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, canning, knitting, crocheting, gardening and berry picking. She also enjoyed dancing and singing, but most of all her family was number one in every part of her life. She especially enjoyed the role of grandmother and great grandmother. Over the years Sylvia was involved with the Mennonite Church, the Baptist Church and later with the Salvation Army. Sylvia is survived by her eight children; Phyllis, Merle, Joyce (Chester), Pearl, Lorne (Shari), George, Della and Lyle (Sandy). She was predeceased by; her husband Gilbert and ten brothers and sisters. The Funeral Ceremony was held at Memories Chapel on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. Major Velma Preston officiated. Pallbearers were grandsons: Jason Wenger, Brent Dyck, Terry Flett, Darrell Flett, Scott MacDonald and Shane Tremblay. Interment followed in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens.Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.memorieschapel.com.Arrangements were with Memories Chapel & Pre-Planning Centre, 727-0330.
