NERON: Evelyn Gladys Neron of Brandon, beloved wife of the late René Neron, passed away at her place of residence, Valleyview Care Centre, on Thursday, June 18, 2009 at the age of 89 years. Evelyn was born in Surrey, England on February 12, 1920. In 1941, she was called up to serve her country in the Womens Auxiliary Air Force in telecommunications. It was during those years of World War II that she met a young handsome Canadian Soldier, René, and they were married in England on June 4,1945. She then came to Canada as a war bride on the ship, Aquatania in June 1946. She and dad then settled in Carleton Place, Ontario for a while. After that, they spent many years living on air force bases and then finally settled in Brandon in 1970. Mom loved to knit, sew and crochet. She was also very musical and she played the piano and organ. Mom also had a beautiful voice and she sang in many choirs. Family was everything to her, and she loved spending time with all of us. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children Pam (Ken) White, Jim (Phyllis) Neron, Janice (Jim) Hockley, Linda (Larry) Gillies and grandchildren Jennifer, Jeff, Jamie, Marie, Sarah, Rob, Stephanie, Mandy and great grandchildren Cohen, Seth, Kalen, Avery, Asher, Caitlin, Amber, Nash and Hunter. She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, René, in 2005, her parents, six sisters and one brother. A service of remembrance was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on June 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Brown officiating. The Eulogy was given by Sarah Campbell. A private family interment followed at the Brandon Cemetery, Veterans Section. Active Pallbearers were Ken White, Jim Hockley, Larry Gillies, Jeff White, Jamie White and Ryan Campbell.
