KINNEAR: Mildred Pauline Kinnear (née Walters) passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, July 5, 2009 at the age of 94 years. Mildred was born at Beaverdam, Wisconsin, USA on July 25, 1914. She moved to Winnipeg at an early age and attended Kelvin High School. At age seventeen, Mildred married Howard Kinnear of Souris, Manitoba. Howard was deaf and Mildred quickly learned to talk and communicate with her hands. They had two daughters, Verlie and Lois. During her lifetime, Mildred worked as a homemaker, at the Bay in Winnipeg, and later as a medical assistant for several years at the Medical Arts Building (Winnipeg) before her retirement. Mildred and Howard enjoyed travels to Europe, Hawaii, California, Australia and New Zealand. She also enjoyed 5-pin bowling, lawn bowling, badminton, cards (especially Bridge), Tai Chi and quilting. She followed baseball, golf and most sports on TV. She could always tell you who was winning or how well they were batting. Howard did all the driving, and after his passing in 1982, Mildred took driving lessons and obtained her driver’s license. She remained in their Winnipeg home for 3 years after Howard’s passing and then moved to a Winnipeg Seniors Home for 3 years. She moved to Lions Manor in Brandon when it opened in 1989. Mildred is survived by her daughters Verlie Davison of Carberry, MB and Lois Botten of the U.K. Grandchildren: Richard Davison (Jackie), Geraldine Reynolds (Earl), Laura (Gerard) Bohrn, Joanna (Chas Radforth) Botten, Heidi Botten (partner Steve McGarrigle); twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, brother Stewart, husband Howard, great-grandson Curtis, sisters-in-law Muriel (George) Gilchrist, Dorothy (Earl) Murphy and son-in-law George Davison. A graveside service will be held at the Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Winnipeg, on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to a charity of choice.
