ACORN: Kathleen Acorn (nee Webster) passed away at the Baldur Personal Care Home on Saturday July 18, 2009 at the age of 87 years.Leen was born September 19, 1921. On February 7, 1939, she married William Joseph Acorn. They farmed and drove the school Van for many years in the Delta District of Belmont. In 1974, they sold the farm, but remained living there, until 1984 when they purchased a house in Belmont. Leen worked at the Pelican Lake Motel in Ninette, Ed’s Café and Verhelst Greenhouse in Belmont. She loved gardening and took great pride in her yard full of flowers. Leen was an excellent cook and always had a meal for extra guests. Leen was a devoted mother and grandmother – having eight daughters – she always had lots of little ones to love and cradle in her arms, and loved every minute of it. Leen and Bill attended most of the dances the Fugitives Band played for in Belmont and Area. They loved to dance. Leen resided at Baldur Personal Care Home for the last 3 ? years. She is survived by her daughters Dorothy (Irving) Myers of Belmont, Betty Manning (Jim Forester) of Carman, Margie (Jack) Weddall of Winnipeg, Donna (Lorry) Grift of Ninette, Pat (Bill) Miller of Boissevain, Kathy (Barry) Campbell of Brookdale, Bonnie (Bob) Nault of Belmont, son-in-law Bob Brown of Killarney, sister Shirley Kimball of Killarney, brother Gerald (Anne) Webster of St. Albert Alberta, brother-in-law Bob (Doreen) Acorn of Glenboro, 22 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren 3 great great grandchildren and by several nieces and nephews. Leen was predeceased by her husband Bill, daughter Wilma Brown, grandson Dale Myers, father Charles Webster and son-in-law Ken Manning, her sister Marg (Doug) Deedman, brother Francis (Violet) Deedman and by brothers- in-law Bob Morgan and Frank Kimball. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. in the Belmont Community Hall with Helen Delorme officiating. Interment to take place in the Hillside Cemetery.
