CHARLTON: Doreen Lois Charlton (nee Wiggins), was born in Arrow River, Manitoba on December 4th, 1930 to Lloyd Wiggins and Norma (Kirk) Wiggins. Doreen passed away in Medicine Hat, Alberta, on Wednesday, July 29th, 2009 after a long struggle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Robert Charlton; her children, Brian Charlton (Anne), Bonnie Charlton Ireland, Robert Charlton (Rose), Gary Charlton (Cindy), and Barry Charlton (Jocelyne); her grandchildren, Tuesday and Brendon Ireland, Myles Pollock and Katrina Charlton, Cara and Warren Charlton, Ashlea and Brayden Charlton; and great-granddaughter, Karmen Thongdit Charlton. Doreen was predeceased by her brother, Edgar Wiggins; and her grandson, Phillip Haines. Doreen grew up on the family farm in Arrow River. As a young woman, she moved to Brandon and worked in the Brandon General Hospital and later at the TB Sanitarium in Ninette before moving to Calgary where she met and married Robert in 1952. She raised her family in a typical military life with many moves including Shilo, Manitoba before settling in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan. Doreen had a kind heart and a sparkle in her eyes with a smile to match, a great sense of humor and a huge love of family. We will miss you dear wife and mom and thank you for your love. At Doreen’s request, no funeral service will be held. A Family Gathering will be held in Arrow River at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 102 - 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 1Z8.
