NICHOL: Jean Helen (nee Jaques), beloved wife of Harvey and mother of Marillyn (Laurence), Patti (Daryle), Rob (Lynn), and Carla passed away at Tri-Lake Health Centre, Killarney, Manitoba on August 2, 2009. She was born January 11, 1937 in Killarney and went to Jaques School for her early years and graduated in 1955 from Killarney Collegiate. She then took her teaching training in Winnipeg and taught for a short period of time. In 1956 she married her sweetheart Harv and they recently celebrated their 53rd Anniversary. Mom was then a homemaker extraordinare. In 1975 she returned to the work force when her and a friend opened a store in Killarney’s new mall called Colleens Boutique. She went on to work at the U.G.G. elevator with Harv as a bookkeeper and retired in 1989. Mom enjoyed many sports in her early years; especially golf and curling (she loved to bonspiel). She was the president for our local club for a few years. In her later years she remained very active in her community and enjoyed shuffling and playing bridge with her friends. She was also an avid fan at all her grandchildren’s sports activities. She especially enjoyed watching her grandson Bryce play hockey and was very proud of him (she was proud of all her children and grandchildren). She enjoyed going to Brandon to watch his games up till a few years ago. There was one game when an overzealous Wheat King fan threw his beer and then his cup at the PA Players on their bench along with some profanity. This happened right in front of Mom and it upset her. After that she preferred to watch his games on the computer or listen to the radio. Hockey fans please take note, you never know whose Nana could be sitting near you, (could even be the Referee’s Nana). Mom was a lifelong member of the Anglican Church, she sang in the church choir “The Hummingbirds” and she also enjoyed crafting for their annual Trinity Treasures. Mom and her Lord were in a good place. Mom was wise and had a lot of common sense she therefore made many friends along the way. She leaves behind many lifelong close friends. She also leaves her grandchildren Kristen, Kyle, Bryce, Jenna, Derek and Stacey. She leaves her one brother Jack Jaques of Edmonton. She was predeceased by her parents. A beautiful ceremony was held August 6, 2009 to celebrate her life with Killarney Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Great job Garth (her nephew), and Matthew, the PPP was super.. Her grandchildren acted as honorary pallbearers. In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to The Anglican Church, The TLHC Palliative Care Unit or a charity of your choice. Messages of condolence may be made online at www.wheatlnd.com Rest in Peace Momwe will miss youBut memories last forever.
