In 1925, when Annie was 8, the Birchall family moved to Canada where they homesteaded in the Elkhorn area. Later they moved to the Woodville area where Lewis worked for the Wood family. Annie stayed at the Wood farm and continued to work for the family. It was here that she met and later married John David Grant Overand.JOHN DAVID GRANTOVERANDOct. 7, 1920-Aug. 13, 2009We announce with sadness the sudden passing of Grant on August 13, 2009 at the Southeast Integrated Care Center, Moosomin, Saskatchewan. Born October 7, 1920 at Eden Grove Ontario, to Wesley and Mary Overand, he was the third of five children Elsie, Wes, Grant, Bruce and Ross. After venturing out to the prairies with his brother Ross he came to work in the Woodville area near Elkhorn. This is where Grant and Annie took a shine to each other and married May 28, 1955. Grant and Annie continued to work for the Wood family for many years. They continued to farm on their own until they retired in 1990 and moved to Elkhorn. After living in their house for a number of years they moved to Elkview Lodge and eventually the Elkwood Manor. Grant and Annie leave behind sons: Wes (wife Ellen Rae), Keith (wife Jean Anne), and grandchildren Chevonne, Justin, Josh and Evan. They will be dearly missed and remembered always for their kindness and the thoughtfulness of others that they taught their family and we will continue to make them proud.
