ONSLOW: Nora Mabel Onslow, widow of the late Joseph Edward Onslow, passed away at her residence Fairview Home on August 22, 2009, at the age of 96 years. Nora was born on November 2, 1912 to John and Beatrice Miller on Section 36-3-24, R.M. of Brenda. Nora was educated at Sherwood, Medora and Brandon Normal Schools and taught school at Sherwood, Aberdeen, Medora and Stockton. On July 20, 1946 Nora married Joseph Edward Onslow. Joe’s employment with the CPR saw them residing in Bernice, Deloraine and various southern Manitoba locations. In 1967 Nora returned to teaching at Deloraine Elementary and taught until the family moved to Brandon in 1972. Nora’s family and home were of utmost importance to her. Through all the years Nora was very active in the United Church, the Johnston Auxillary, the UCW and particularly the Primary Sunday School. Nora is survived by her son, Jim Dennis Onslow, her daughter, Sheila Mary Jovanovic and son-in-law Dragan Jovanovic; grandchildren Sonja Jovanovic, Jovan Jovanovic and his wife Sandra; sister-in-law Hazel Onslow; nieces and nephews include Bob Miller, Ila and Robert Swain, Linda Smith, Mona and Rob Blowatt, Barb and Brian Onslow, Shirley and Roy Davidson, Rick and Ruth Onslow, Vivian and Quincey Burnell and their families. Nora was predeceased by Joe in 1989 and through the years all her siblings and their spouses – Cecil (Florence), Edith (Warren) Rennie and Lloyd (Lee) and Joe’s siblings and their spouses – Mary (Dennis Siddle), Jack and Tom (Hazel). In the past few years Nora resided at the Fairview Home in Brandon. Nora’s family would like to thank the first floor staff for their excellent care of her. A Memorial Service will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 (today) at 2:00 p.m., with Mr. Lawrence McInnes, Brockie Donovan Funeral Celebrant officiating. A time of reception and conversation will follow in the George Brockie Fellowship Centre. A graveside service will be held at Rosewood Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m., prior to the chapel ceremony.
