HEISE: Arthur Art Nelson Heise was born January 19, 1932 and passed away August 8, 2009 at the Hamiota Hospital. Third son of Russel Edwin and Thirza Gertrude (Smith) Heise of Isabella, Art was born on the Heise farm where he continued to live for the greater part of his life until his retirement to Hamiota in 1996. Art was predeceased by his parents and one granddaughter Thirza Yvonne Winstone. He is survived by his wife of fifty-three years, Margaret (Coutts) Heise and their children Adele (Brian McConkey), Arla (Reed Winstone) and Kendall (Angela Eschenwecker); grandchildren Michelle, Laura and Ian McConkey, Travis, Arden and Hayden Winstone, Karina and Jessica Heise. Also surviving are brothers Dave (Margaret), Doug (Shirley), Lawrence (Lynn) and John (Merle) and brother-in-law Glen (Gaylene) Coutts as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Art attended Isabella School, taking his grade twelve in Hamiota. During his lifetime he was a farmer who enjoyed the challenge and often read the farm papers in order to keep up with new ideas. He was involved with the Isabella United Church acting as secretary-treasurer for many years. For nearly fifty years he was a member of the I.O.O. F. lodge at Miniota. Community activities and organizations received his support. Recreationally, his activities included sports both as an athlete and as a spectator. More recently bowling was enjoyed. When family came to visit, the jigsaw puzzles came out. He had a great compassion for people which showed in his talent for speaking to people and giving their spirits a boost. His family both immediate and extended and his friends were very important to him. Family history as well as community history books were more of his interests but best times of all were family or community gatherings with plenty of good food and lots of opportunities to find out what people were doing and of course some good natured teasing. The celebration of his life took place September 7th with the service at Hamiota United Church at which Barbara Rediker officiated. Interment was at the Isabella cemetery and a time for lunch and greeting friends followed at the Isabella Hall. Campbell Funeral Home, Hamiota were in charge of arrangements.
