ECKBERG: Alice Florence (Moir) Eckberg passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2009 at the Dinsdale Personal Care Home at the age of 97 years. Florence was born July 2, 1912 in Brandon to parents William and Alice Moir. The family moved to the farm at Griswold where she and her siblings grew up and attended school. She was predeceased by her parents and all four siblings, Bill (Barb) Moir, Tom Moir, Bess (Ralph Bailey) and Art (Gert) Moir. She married Arnold (Ollie) Eckberg in 1947 and together they farmed and made their home in the Rapid City area. Florence was active in the Rapid City UCW and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary displaying her talent for baking and sewing. She is fondly remembered by her two sons and their families: Arnie (Margo) Eckberg; granddaughter Karolina (Amanda and Owen) Scott, granddaughter Krista Eckberg and husband Adam Smith. Wayne (Bernadette) Eckberg; grandchildren Kevin (Jackie), Kim, Megan and Ryan, and their families. Additionally she is survived by her sister-in-law Louella Moir of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Florence was laid to rest in the Rapid City Cemetery following a service in the Rapid City United Church on Monday, August 31st, 2009 with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating.
