CARTER: It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our husband, father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend, Darren Carter. Darren, at the age of 40, lost his courageous battle with cancer. He passed away on September 16, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Darren was predeceased by his father Gerry. He is survived by his wife Wendy (Rutherford), sons Aaron and Jeremy, mother Annette, brother Terry and sister Shelley. Darren was born on January 22, 1969 in Langley, B.C. He was the youngest of three children, born to Gerry and Annette. Darren moved to Strathclair, Manitoba at the age of 8. He attended elementary and highschool there. Darren took a telecommunication course at ACC after which he was employed by MTS for seven years. Darren then worked for Simplot/Koch for ten years. Darren and Wendy were high school sweethearts. They were married on July 7, 1990 in Hamiota, Manitoba. The biggest blessing in their lives are their sons Aaron and Jeremy. They had many cherished memories together including camping, fishing, golfing and spending time with family, friends and neighbors. There are not enough words to express what an amazing husband, father, relative and friend that Darren was. He will be sadly missed. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. at the Souris & Glenwood Community Hall, Souris, Manitoba with a private interment in the Souris & Glenwood Cemetery.
