WEIR, Reita Elizabeth: It is with great sadness that we announce her passing at age 90. She left her chosen town of retirement, Souris, Manitoba on Sept. 15, 2009. Reita was born in Windthorst, Sask, the oldest of nine. She is survived by her 2 youngest sisters, Cora Corscadden of Penticton, BC and Myrtle Hawkins (Walter) of Surrey, BC. She spent her industrious years on the Winter family farm where she developed a keen understanding for the business world and a love of horticulture, taking home numerous prizes, even into her retirement years! She was a member of the local Rebecca Lodge, Horticultural Society and United Church as well as a dedicated curler at Griswold and Souris Curling Clubs. Reita was much loved by her siblings, generations of nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends. Reita served her family with great dedication and commitment, hosting, attending and organizing family events and very large extended family reunions. The family wish to thank Dr. Cram and all the very special care providers at the Souris Hospital. A graveside service was held on Sept. 24 at Alexander Cemetery, with a reception at St. Pauls United Church, Souris. Thank you to all who attended and to Kowalchuks Fuenral Home for their assistance. Donations can be made to the Town of Souris Beautification, St. Pauls United Church (Souris), or to a charity of choice.
