KIDD: Murray Wesley Kidd. Peacefully on October 1, 2009, Murray passed away at the age of 58 yearsafter a lengthy illness. He is survived by his beloved son Derek, daughter Michelle, and sister Colleen. Murray’s children held a very special place in his heart. Murray was predeceased by his father Jimmy in 1989 and his mother Nita in 2002. Also surviving are his Aunt Sadie (Brown) of Edmonton, his Uncle Russell (Angus) of Brandon, as well as many cousins. Murray was born in Brandon on January 1, 1951. He went to school in Brandon from grade one through graduation from Brandon University with his Bachelor of Education. He taught four years in MacGregor before moving to Carman in 1976 where he taught French at Carman Collegiate. Murray enjoyed many years on staff, until his illness forced him to retire in 1992. He became very proficient at using a computer and in his latter years learned to use voice recognition programs to continue his interests. Murray spent his summers at the family cabin at Clear Lake where he worked for the summer. He became a very good swimmer and spent many hours at the Clear Lake golf course. Murray was very interested in sports and loved playing golf, especially in the Tamarack held every August at Clear Lake. Murray also played, coached and refereed minor hockey for many years. Throughout his life Murray was fortunate to have many life long friendships. Murray loved to travel and to camp. His favorite destinations were Quebec City and Montreal where he spent numerous summers watching the Montreal Expos. He also enjoyed many visits to Alberta and spent one summer touring in Europe. Murray had many fond memories of family vacations and the accomplishments of his children. In his later years, he was surrounded by the kind and caring staff at Boyne Lodge. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. from the Carman United Church with Rev. Catherine Waldie officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
