BROWN: Rose. It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Rose Brown. Mom passed away on September 29, 2009 at Rideau Park Personal Care Home surrounded by her family. Mom was born December 17, 1927 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Mom met Dad in Scotland and after the war she joined him in Canada. They were married March 6, 1948 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom and Dad lived in MacGregor, Killarney and finally moved to Brandon in 1968. Mom worked for seven years at Lakeview Lodge in Killarney and for thirteen years at Fairview Home in Brandon. After retiring, Mom and Dad enjoyed winters in the States. Summers were spent camping and fishing in Canada. Mom also enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her family. Mom is survived by daughters Linda Riddell (Garry Smith), Heather Hawkins (Ron), son David Brown (Donna), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her dear sister Evelyn Mayor of Winnipeg and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husband John, parents David and Rose Mitchell, sisters Catherine and Grace, and beloved granddaughter, Patricia Brown. Mom thought the world of the wonderful staff at Rideau Park who gave her such good care. Thanks Ryan for all the special time you shared with Mom and for making her laugh. Thank you to Rev. Chris Arthur for the wonderful service. A special thank you to Garry Smith for the heartfelt eulogy. A Graveside Service was held at the Veterans’ Section of the Brandon Cemetery on October 2, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Rose may be made to the Parkinson Society of Manitoba, 302-171 Donald Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3C 1M4.
