BROESKA: The death of Jean Delee Broeska (nee Pope) beloved sister of David Pope and Shawna Bertone, occurred suddenly, Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the city. Delee was born October 7, 1952 in Broadview, Saskatchewan to parents Marj and Ed Pope. At an early age the family moved to Brandon. Delee attended school at George Fitton, Earl Haig and Brandon Collegiate Institute. Over the years she worked at the International Nursing Home and the Colonial Inn as well as having various child care jobs. Delee had a special love for all animals and she shared this by volunteering at the Humane Society. She loved watching sports, especially baseball and hockey, with her favorite teams being the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs. Delee enjoyed outings such as bingo, playing cards with friends as well as family get together's and any and all activities of her nieces and nephews. Delee is survived by her brother David (Karen) Pope and their children: Rob (Lori), Jennifer (Stewart), Trent, Derek (Amy) and Justin; sister Shawna (Tony) Bertone and their children Nicole, Drew and Brayden as well as her "little man" Bailey. She will also be missed by great niece and nephews Emily, Aiden, Ryler and Keegan as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Delee was predeceased by her parents Marj and Ed Pope and by her children Deanna Delee and Kevin James Edmund in infancy. The Funeral Service will be held at Memories Chapel on Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. Mike Waddell will officiate. Urn bearer will be Delee's youngest nephew Brayden Bertone. Interment will be in the Brandon Cemetery. Donations in memory of Delee may be made to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 7M6.
